What do I hope to get out of the 23 Mobile Things Program?
First off, I'm looking forward to the fabulous prize I've been promised... No really, I work for incentives :-)
Seriously though, I'm looking forward to spending some time learning about mobile apps and the ways I can make best use of my iPad - otherwise, it was just an expensive way to surf the Internet. And I'm looking forward to just taking some time to learn. My job keeps me very busy and sometimes it's quite a bit stressful. So I'm hoping by participating in this program I will set aside some time to continue to develop my skills. While I'm certainly competent with technology, it seems that it changes so fast, I don't know how anyone keeps up. Hopefully, this program will give me a little bit of insight that I might share with people who use the library as well as with the staff that I supervise. And maybe it will be fun too!
And just a word about the title of my blog... I thought long and hard about coming up with something that wasn't "23 Mobile Things..." Not that there's anything wrong with it, I just wanted to be a tad bit more creative - not usually one of my strengths. So in brainstorming with a staff member, I mentioned something about my longstanding joke at my office - that my office doesn't have heat (it doesn't - I can often be seen with gloves and a scarf on working away) Well it just kind of stuck for me, hence the name. Not sure it's truly creative, but it certainly sets me apart.
